‎Naming Raymah Governorate‎

‎Raymah is a common name for a number of places in Yemen: Raymah al-Manakhi in al-Udayn, ‎‎Ibb‎‎ governorate, Raymah Hamid in Sanhan, ‎‎Sana'a‎‎ governorate, and Raymah is the name of a mountain in Bani Qais from Khaban, ‎‎Hajjah governorate‎‎.‎

‎ Historians mentioned it in relation to the tribe of Ashbat, which headed its successor, and it was mentioned - also - Barima al-Kubra, and it won the admiration of historians, so they said "any more" in mentioning its beauty, the abundance of its water, the fertility of its lands and the quality of its products until the Arabs called it the scape of Yemen, then those labels faded and became "Rima" without additions, and some insulation and roads in Raymah still bear the names of these breeds that history books talk about, including a number of Himyarite bellies, and as it is said – also – that it was named Rima deriving from "Reem" – which is Name for the gazelle – due to the gentleness of its inhabitants or relative to the beauty of its nature.‎

‎History of Raymah Governorate‎

‎The province of Raymah is considered one of the important historical theaters, as events have taken place since the pre-Islamic period, and the news pointed out that the history of Raymah dates back to the "third century BC", and that is the oldest reference to it, and "‎‎Al-Hamdani‎‎" believes that the first home of the Yemeni man was in this spot, where the site of "Shajban", which is the boundary between Mikhlaf Jablan and Makhalif west of Dhamar, and to him is attributed "denounces bin Qahtan"; And the areas of antiquities in it, and enumerates its valleys as described by its Mikhlaf, tribes, agricultural and animal production.‎

‎Rima in the inscriptions‎

‎One of the inscriptions found in Jabal Al-Domer showed Raymah as the province of Raymah from the states of the Qatabani state, and it has a tribe that follows the children of "Amma" - the god "Amma" the official god of the state of Qataban - which is the tribe of "Ajab", and that inscription mentioned the presence of two temples in Jabal Al-Domer for the god "Amma", and the control of the ‎‎Qatabani state‎‎ over Raymah meant surrounding the bottom of Jahran Al-Sabaean from its three eastern, southern and western sides, thus stopping the Sabaean settlement south in the plateau, in the ‎‎city of Dhamar‎‎, and west in ‎‎Shibam Kawkaban‎‎, on the one hand, and on the other hand, the control of the ‎‎ Kingdom of Qataban‎‎over Raymah is considered part of its plan to protect the coasts of the Red Sea, which was under its authority, but the lack of archaeological studies in Raymah made us ignorant of many of its roles in pre-Islamic times and after the decline of the Qatabani state.‎

‎Raymah became at one time the front lines of the Kingdom‎‎ of Sheba ‎‎and then the ‎‎Kingdom of Himyar‎‎ against the Al-Ahbash who controlled Tihama and the coasts of the Red Sea, then Rima played - also - in the Islamic period and until the modern era important roles, and many events took place on its lands, and those lands were in the late period coveted by many tribes of Yemen such as Khawlan and others, and families and families moved to them; Cows, in addition to the presence of bees in them, which produce large quantities of honey, have been famous for them since ancient times.‎
